Dealing with a Snorer
How frustrating is it… waking up in the middle of the night, still in denial with only one eye open. You say to yourself "not again, it is happening to me, it's just a bad dream"… but after a few minutes you come to accept the fact that your sleep is over. Sometimes it sounds like a jackhammer and sometimes like a full size truck - your husband's snoring. If you are tired of your snoring husband, you cannot give up on him. You must always remember that it is not his fault. He suffers from a very common problem which affects more than 50% of adults in the United States. It is very important you make him see a doctor so he could treat his snoring problem but in the mean time, here are some things you could do:
1. There is one simple thing you could do when you hear your husband snore. Touch him or give a whack. This almost always work and it will give a period of silence on his part.
2. The second he starts snoring you should flip him on his stomach with his face down. People have the tendency to snore when lying on their backs. So the most obvious thing you could do is just forcing him to change his sleeping posture.
3. Another thing you can do is go out and buy yourself a pair of ear plugs. Try finding a pair that is completely sound proof so that no annoying sound can go through and disturb your sleep.
4. In case your husband does not realize the magnitude of his snoring problem you can record him during the night, making him realize what you have to put up with. This method usually works and he will go to the doctor in no time.
5. Last thing you need to understand is that you patience is crucial both for his recovery and your relationship. Always remember that he does not snore on purpose.
