1. Change your sleeping position
When you're lying on your back you are more likely to snore, where is sleeping face down can be more stressful on your neck. Try sleeping on your side.
2. Avoid alcohol and tranquilizers
Your central nervous system can easily be depressed by chemical substances such as sleeping pills and alcohol which cause your throat and jaw area muscles to relax and this often triggers snoring. Furthermore, those substances are known to contribute to a far more dangerous condition called "sleep apnea". Alcohol and tranquilizers should never be used together and if you are experiencing difficulty quitting any one of them it is wise to discuss it with your physician.
3. Tend to your allergies
Clogged noses and chronic respiratory allergies often cause sufferers to breathe through their mouths during the night. In case your nose gets stuffed up, it might be a good idea using an over-the-counter humidifier or saline spray. In addition, taking an antihistamine just before you go to sleep might help as well.
4. Diet
Excess body weight is a known snoring trigger, especially if fat is building up around your neck area in which case pressure builds up on the airway causing it collapse.

5. Stop smoking
Besides being a really bad habit, smoking damages your respiratory system and can be the cause of your snoring.
6. Use an anti-snoring mouth guard
Get a prescription for an anti-snoring mouth guard from your doctor. The mouth guard binds your teeth together and prevents your jaw muscles from becoming too relaxed.
7. Elevate your upper body
Sleeping horizontally may pressure your airway. Elevating your upper body (not just your head) using pillows and placing blocks under the bed posts might help relieve this pressure making breathing easier.
8. Pregnant and snoring? See a doctor
There are cases in which women who are pregnant begin to snore. This might be caused due to the increase in body weight accompanied by hormonal changes which cause muscles to relax. In any case, snoring during pregnancy might rob your fetus of oxygen. Discuss it with your doctor.
9. Keep a routine schedule
Get a good night sleep (at least 8 hours). Go to sleep and get up approximately at the same time each day.
